Project Goal/Proposal:
For the final project we will experiment how AI-driven generative work can support your design practice, specifically we will be focusing on your capstone projects.
How AI Supported My Design Process
My project focuses on redesigning Valorant’s HUD to reduce confusion and help players make smarter decisions in high-pressure moments. I leveraged AI to iterate faster, visualize layout options, and synthesize large amounts of user feedback from Reddit.

1. AI-Assisted Research + Concept Validation (ChatGPT)
What I did:
I used ChatGPT to help me:
Refine my problem statement and UX angle for HUD redesign.
Compare Valorant’s UI with other FPS games (Overwatch, CS2).
Clarify Riot’s “Player First” values and integrate it into my messaging.

It helped me articulate the core problem and align it with Riot’s design philosophy, making the project feel more grounded and relevant.

2. Reddit Feedback Synthesis (ChatGPT)
What I did:
I pasted hundreds of Reddit comments from two feedback posts (~36K+ views combined), and ChatGPT helped me:
Cluster and summarize key pain points (e.g., players disliking health bar size, liking new suppressed UI).
Extract quotes and common requests quickly.

This saved me hours of manual reading. Made feedback patterns clearer and helped validate my redesign direction.

3. Script & Storytelling Refinement (ChatGPT)
What I did:
ChatGPT helped write and revise:
My entire presentation script (5–7 minutes)
Poster captions, titles, and insights
My exhibition walkthrough script (visitor-friendly tone)

This let me focus on content clarity, kept tone engaging, and ensured my message was aligned with my visual design.

4. Poster Layout & Content Planning (ChatGPT + Image Generation)
What I did:
I uploaded layout screenshots of my 36x48” and 24x36” posters. ChatGPT:
Helped structure content sections logically.
Generated headline ideas, section labels, and pacing flow.
Suggested where to place visuals and what captions to use.
Created a mockup image of the posters for inspiration using AI image generation tools.

This made my booth more cohesive and helped with visual hierarchy.

5. Mockup & Visual Support (Image Gen Tool)
What I did:
I used an AI image generation tool to create:
A preview mockup of how my posters might look side-by-side in my booth.

This gave me the confidence and structure I needed when I was stuck and overwhelmed with layout decisions.

Reflection

AI tools became a quiet collaborator throughout my capstone process. They saved time, helped me overcome creative blocks, and made my messaging more intentional. What surprised me most was how quickly I could turn messy ideas or raw feedback into usable, polished content. Rather than replacing my design process, AI became a thinking partner, especially helpful when I needed fast iteration and clarity under tight deadlines.
